Representative Steve Thompson
Representative Steve Thompson is serving his 4th term as a State House Representative. He currently represents District 2. He was first elected to the House in 2010. He is a member of the House Finance Committee in the Alaska State Legislature. He serves on the Finance Subcommittee for Education and Finance Subcommittee for Revenue.
Steve moved to Fairbanks from Cottage Grove, Oregon where he was born and attended school (K-College). In 1965, Steve joined the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks. He served from 1965-67 and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant E-5.
Steve worked himself from the position of employee to sole owner of M&O Auto Parts. He owned the business for 33 years and sold the business when he retired.
In 2001, Steve was elected as Mayor of Fairbanks. He was re-elected in 2004 and was Mayor until he was termed-out in 2007.
He enjoys sports of all kinds. He personally enjoys snow machining, fishing, golfing, rafting, hunting and introducing his youngest son to play many sports.
Steve is the proud father of 5 children and grandfather to 10. He is married to Kathleen and they reside in Fairbanks.
