Foster Care Children Speak Out
Rep. Wilson responds to request for public hearing
Wednesday, September 20, 2017, North Pole, Alaska – In her continued effort to keep families together, Representative Tammie Wilson (R-North Pole) will be holding a hearing for Alaskans who have lacked representation within the foster care system. She is providing an opportunity for those currently and previously in foster care to share their personal experiences.
“I’m here to listen to those who feel their voices have not been heard. This is at the request of Alaskans who have reached out to me,” said Rep. Wilson. “They feel their first-hand experiences may offer lawmakers, department leadership and the public a unique opportunity to understand how the foster care system affected them, then and now.”
Any individual, currently or previously in foster care, who would like to testify should contact Rep. Wilson’s office at 451-2723 no later than Tuesday, September 26th at 3:00 p.m. so that all will have time to speak.
When: September 27, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Where: The Anchorage LIO located at 1500 W. Benson Blvd.
NOTE: Testimony time may be limited to accommodate all invitees
