House Republicans Celebrate Opening ANWR
Passage of tax bill marks historic day for Alaska
Wednesday, December 20, 201, Anchorage, Alaska - Alaska is open for business like never before thanks to a small portion of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge being unlocked to provide huge opportunity for resource developers. The congressional budget just passed in our nation’s Capital, provides access to coveted land within the 1002 Area of ANWR.
“This is an historic moment. This milestone has been a long time coming, and I join Alaskans in celebrating and thanking our dedicated Congressional delegation for getting us here,” said Rep. Charisse Millett (R-Anchorage). “Now comes the work of continuing to build strong partnerships with our oil and gas industry to see our resources responsibly extracted, and to see this long-held dream become a reality.”
Opening approximately 2,000 square acres of the 19 million-acre ANWR allows oil and gas companies to access an estimated 10 billion barrels of oil. Undoubtedly this will produce high paying jobs and strengthen our economy.
“Developing possibly one of the largest oil reserves in the U.S. will stimulate the economy and provide energy security for all of America. I invite our congressional delegation to Alaska to sign this bill into law,” said Representative Mike Chenault (R-Nikiski).
Access to ANWR places Alaska in the global market at a time when we need it most. House Republicans celebrate this day.
