Know Your Rights For Protecting Life & Property
Rep. Kopp and Sen. Von Imhof to hold informational meeting
Monday, October 16, 2017, Anchorage, Alaska – Representative Chuck Kopp (R-Anchorage), Senator Natasha Von Imhof (R-Anchorage) and John Skidmore, Director of the Criminal Division of the Alaska Department of Law, will hold an informational meeting this Friday to review citizen rights regarding protection of life and property. Rising crime in Anchorage has become a serious concern and citizens need to know their rights to protect themselves.
“I want my neighbors to be armed with the knowledge of their legal rights and options they have under the law to prevent harm from being inflicted on them. Having spent more than 2 decades in law enforcement, I do not wish anyone to find themselves in a situation where they feel the need to use force to protect their lives and property. But more importantly, I want people to know their rights and responsibilities under the law should a dire threat come their way”, said Rep. Kopp.
This Friday evening at Klatt Elementary School, staff from the Department of Law will make a short presentation and then open for questions. The event will be held jointly with the Bayshore-Klatt and the Old Seward Oceanview Community Councils.
