Rep. Johnson Enthusiastic but Cautious about Gas Sales Precedent Agreement

Monday, September 10, 2018, Palmer, AK – Today’s announcement that ExxonMobil Alaska and the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC) have signed off on a preliminary deal to sell natural gas to a future Alaska LNG project was greeted with a mix of enthusiasm and caution by Rep. DeLena Johnson (R-Palmer).

“The path to developing Alaska’s North Slope natural gas reserves is long, so any movement down that path is good news,” said Rep. Johnson. “I anticipate learning more from AGDC in the coming months about how it plans to overcome some of the other significant hurdles the project is facing.”

Representative Johnson is one of nine lawmakers on the House Resources Committee and has strongly advocated for all forms of natural resource development during her time on the committee.
