Johnson Statement on Damaged Glenn Highway Overpass
Thursday, March 22, 2018, Juneau, Alaska – Representative DeLena Johnson (R-Palmer) has been in contact with the Department of Transportation regarding damage done to the South Eagle River overpass that has resulted in highway closure. She issues the following statement.
“I have made the DOT aware of my concerns about the safety of commuters and other drivers heading into the Anchorage area from Palmer and other Mat Su locations. I have been assured that everything is being done to address the traffic delays while keeping safety to the forefront. I have also been told that DOT has requested $1.8 million emergency funding to repair the overpass as quickly as possible. I urge our Mat Su commuters to take extra care in the next few days when driving in the vicinity of the damaged overpass. We want everyone to remain safe and sound.”
